ART IN THE KITCHEN - WEDNESDAYS
1 to 4 pm. Whether you are an experienced artist or a beginner, you are invited to "Art in the Kitchen" which is held each Wednesday in the Kitchen (Room 5) of the Yachats Commons from 1 to 4 p.m. (This is NOT a class.) Please bring your own art materials. A donation of $5 will help pay for the facilities. Enjoy a fabulous display of fireworks over Alsea Bay beginning at dusk. You'll find plenty of sandy beach to enjoy the view. Park at Patterson State Park or park in Waldport to view the festivities from the Historic Alsea Bay Bridge Interpretive Center or along Keady Wayside. Arrive early and build a sand castle, catch Dungeness crab in Alsea Bay, search for sand dollars along miles of sandy beach, toast marshmallows over a bonfire, ride a green bike and then, by all means enjoy the fireworks! VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS OPEN HOUSE

The Queen Ann style Keeper's House will be decorated with Victorian flourishes inside and out. Enjoy warm drinks and treats and performances by local musicians. Santa Claus will be there, and there will be a holiday raffle with great prizes from local businesses. Shuttle service will be offered from Heceta Head Lighstation State Scenic Area parking lot to the front door. Or bring warm, rainproof clothing and a flashlight and enjoy a beautiful walk up from the parking lot/beach. The parking fee is $5 or present your Oregon Coast Passport. FMI: (541) 547-3696. ANNUAL SOLSTICE BONFIRE
The Yachats Academy of Arts & Sciences hosts this annual community bonfire that offers music, sweet treats, and a warm welcome. Guests are invited to bring a percussion instrument as well as a piece of firewood to add to the bonfire. The Yachats Ladies Club will be providing sweet treats and there will be coffee and hot chocolate. This is a free event. Any donations will be shared with the participating nonprofit organizations. The party is held on the grounds behind the Yachats Commons building and moves inside the large picnic shelter in inclement weather. Yachats Commons, 441 Hwy 101.

Meet at the Yachats Commons, 441 Hwy 101 [#15]
YACHATS NEW YEAR'S DAY PEACE HIKE
Start the new year on the right foot and join the 8th annual Yachats New Year's Day Peace Hike! This year the event returns to its roots as a 6 mile round trip hike from the Yachats Commons to the Amanda Trail Grotto where the traditional silent procession and fire ceremony will be held. Check-in for the hike begins at the Commons at 9:30 a.m. (Note that due to traffic safety concerns, no parking or shuttle service will be available at the Kittel driveway along Hwy. 101 this year.)

As an alternative, for those not participating in the hike, a candlelight vigil will also be held in the Yachats Little Log Church from 9:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Members of the Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw Indians will begin the vigil with the Story of Amanda, for whom the Amanda Trail is named.

The village gem invites you to the 7th annual Yachats Agate Festival and Gem-Mineral-Fossil Show. CEREMONY OF RENEWAL AND COMMITMENT
This is an opportunity for couples to renew their vows in a group setting. Married and unmarried committed couples are invited to attend. The Vows Renewal Ceremony, held annually on February 14, has become a popular fundraiser for The Little Log Church & Museum. Since space is limited, reservations are required. OREGON COAST GRAVEL EPIC
The Oregon Coast Gravel Epic offers riders seeking an unvarnished challenge a full day of adventure in the Siuslaw National Forest on the central Oregon Coast. The ride showcases the raw beauty of ancient Siuslaw National Forest scenery and rural coastal communities. This is one of the crown jewels of the Oregon Triple Crown Series of premier and challenging racing and recreational riding events. This event is presented by Oregon Coast Bank and is produced in cooperation with the communities of Waldport and Yachats and with the support Travel Oregon and a number of other outstanding sponsors TBA. It is Oregon Bicycle Racing Association (OBRA) sanctioned.
