Cape Perpetua Marine Reserve BIOBLITZ
July 6 @ 9:30 am - 12:00 pm
Meet at the Cape Perpetua Visitor Center.
A BioBlitz is an intensive survey of a defined area on a single day with the goal of identifying all the species to be found in that area at one time – it is a snapshot of biodiversity. Come explore Oregon’s coastal waters while helping local scientists survey the species of the region!
There will be a brief introduction on Cape Perpetua Marine Reserve and staff will answer iNaturalist questions at the beginning of the event.
Get started on iNaturalist now! This is a useful tool (for smartphones) which enables any observer of the natural world, of any skill level, to contribute information to a vast national database. This is the method by which participants will contribute to the Bioblitz.
1.Download iNaturalist app
2.Connect to Project: The Cape Perpetua BioBlitz Series
3.Click “observe” to capture your first observation
4.Label/identify the species if known
5.If unknown, someone else can come in and identify for you
Note: You DO NOT need to have wifi while you are taking observations, your observations will automatically upload once you get connected again.
RSVP preferred, but not required.
