Due to Covid-19, please stay posted for a very revised version of this event. Thank you for your patience.
Yachats puts the fun in fungi with this three day festival that is all about mushrooms.
Sponsored by the Yachats Area Chamber of Commerce, the Yachats Village Mushroom Fest invites mushroom lovers from near and far to come enjoy delectable mushroom dishes, to learn how to identify, grow, and cook choice edibles, and to understand more about the roles of fungi in forest ecology.
The weekend brings an impressive array of fun and serious learning opportunities under the umbrella, ‘Ecology for Everyone,’ a title coined by the founder of the festival’s education program, Marla Gillham. We are honored to host a dream team of educators who join this festival annually to provide a Speakers Forum, Culinary and Growing Workshops, Demonstrations, Displays and Slideshows, and 20+ guided mushroom walks.
Admission to the displays and walks are free, but the walks require pre-registration. A $5 Festival Wristband, available on site, provides access to the Speakers Forum and Workshops and the Saturday shuttle service for the guided walks.
On Saturday and Sunday, markets around town will offer wild and exotic cultivated mushrooms (fresh and dried), mushroom tools, specialty products, books signings and books on mushrooms, and local arts and crafts. The Yachats Farmers Market will be open both Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 2pm.
Beginning Friday evening, October 16, and continuing through Sunday, chefs at village restaurants will prepare special dishes featuring a variety of choice wild and cultivated mushrooms.
Stay posted for the 2020 Festival Program.
