Know before you go! Plan your trip: Only hunt for agates at low tide. For tide times click here. Low tide after a big storm in winter is the best time to search for agates. The annual Yachats Agate Festival, is a fabulous winter event offering beautiful displays, vendors, and opportunities to learn about agates and other gems, minerals, and fossils. Due to Covid-19, the festival is canceled in 2021, but mark your calendar for 2022 – you don’t want to miss this!
