ART IN THE KITCHEN - WEDNESDAYS 1 to 4 pm. Whether you are an experienced artist or a beginner, you are invited to "Art in the Kitchen" which is held each Wednesday in the Kitchen (Room 5) of the Yachats Commons from 1 to 4 p.m. (This is NOT a class.) Please bring your own art materials. A donation of $5 will help pay for the facilities. The Cape Perpetua Land-Sea Symposium is a community event aimed at promoting local stewardship efforts and raising awareness about current research being conducted within the Cape Perpetua nearshore and adjacent watersheds. This year's event will feature keynote speaker William Pearcy, of Oregon State University, sharing his research and significance of Heceta Bank.

VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS OPEN HOUSE

The Queen Ann style Keeper's House will be decorated with Victorian flourishes inside and out. Enjoy warm drinks and treats and performances by local musicians. Santa Claus will be there, and there will be a holiday raffle with great prizes from local businesses. Shuttle service will be offered from Heceta Head Lighstation State Scenic Area parking lot to the front door. Or bring warm, rainproof clothing and a flashlight and enjoy a beautiful walk up from the parking lot/beach. The parking fee is $5 or present your Oregon Coast Passport. FMI: (541) 547-3696. ANNUAL SOLSTICE BONFIRE
The Yachats Academy of Arts & Sciences hosts this annual community bonfire that offers music, sweet treats, and a warm welcome. Guests are invited to bring a percussion instrument as well as a piece of firewood to add to the bonfire. The Yachats Ladies Club will be providing sweet treats and there will be coffee and hot chocolate. This is a free event. Any donations will be shared with the participating nonprofit organizations. The party is held on the grounds behind the Yachats Commons building and moves inside the large picnic shelter in inclement weather. Yachats Commons, 441 Hwy 101.

YACHATS NEW YEAR'S DAY PEACE HIKE
Start the new year on the right foot and join the 8th annual New Year's Day Peace Hike! The hike begins at 10:00 a.m. at the Yachats Commons, 441 N. Hwy 101. Hikers will follow a 3.5 mile loop that includes sections of the 804 Trail, the Ya'Xaik Trail and the Gerdemann Botanic Preserve public footpath. The varying terrain of each section ensures hikers of all abilities have the opportunity to participate. Upon returning to the Commons, hikers will celebrate with refreshments and camaraderie. The Oregon Coast Gravel Epic offers riders seeking an unvarnished challenge a full day of adventure in the Siuslaw National Forest on the central Oregon Coast. The ride showcases the raw beauty of ancient Siuslaw National Forest scenery and rural coastal communities. This is one of the crown jewels of the Oregon Triple Crown Series of premier and challenging racing and recreational riding events. This event is presented by Oregon Coast Bank and is produced in cooperation with the communities of Waldport and Yachats and with the support Travel Oregon and a number of other outstanding sponsors TBA. It is Oregon Bicycle Racing Association (OBRA) sanctioned.

Arrive early and build a sand castle, catch Dungeness crab in Alsea Bay, search for sand dollars along miles of sandy beach, toast marshmallows over a bonfire, ride a green bike and then, by all means enjoy the fireworks! The Queen Ann style Keeper's House will be decorated with Victorian flourishes inside and out. Enjoy warm drinks and treats and performances by local musicians. Santa Claus will be there, and there will be a holiday raffle with great prizes from local businesses. Shuttle service will be offered from Heceta Head Lighstation State Scenic Area parking lot to the front door. Or bring warm, rainproof clothing and a flashlight and enjoy a beautiful walk up from the parking lot/beach. The parking fee is $5 or present your Oregon Coast Passport. FMI: (541) 547-3696. The lightstation is located just 14 miles south of Yachats.

ANNUAL SOLSTICE BONFIRE
The Yachats Academy of Arts & Sciences hosts this annual community bonfire that offers music, sweet treats, and a warm welcome. Guests are invited to bring a percussion instrument as well as a piece of firewood to add to the bonfire. The Yachats Ladies Club will be providing sweet treats and there will be coffee and hot chocolate. This is a free event. Any donations will be shared with the participating nonprofit organizations. The party is held on the grounds behind the Yachats Commons building and moves inside the large picnic shelter in inclement weather. Yachats Commons, 441 Hwy 101.

YACHATS NEW YEAR'S DAY PEACE HIKE
Start the new year on the right foot and join the 9th annual New Year's Day Peace Hike! The hike begins at 10:00 a.m. at the Yachats Commons, 441 N. Hwy 101. Hikers will follow a 3.5 mile loop that includes sections of the 804 Trail, the Ya'Xaik Trail and the Gerdemann Botanic Preserve public footpath. The varying terrain of each section ensures hikers of all abilities have the opportunity to participate. Upon returning to the Commons, hikers will celebrate with refreshments and camaraderie.
