Matt Trappe is a Ph.D. student in the Environmental Sciences Department at Oregon State University. His Master's thesis was on the ecology of winter chanterelles in western Oregon. He has worked recently with Dr. Kermit Cromack studying the effects of natural and man-caused disturbance on mycorrhizal fungi at Crater Lake National Park. He is also the "trufflemaster" for the North American Truffling Society, leading their monthly forays.
